Warehouses pay extra when cardboard and soft plastics mix with general waste. Separate the main streams and right-size front-lift bins to keep docks clear.

Core streams

• Cardboard: 1100L bins or front-lift 1.5m3/3.0m3; flatten everything.
• Soft plastics/stretch wrap: Bag and bale if volume is high; keep out of commingled and cardboard.
• General waste: Front-lift 1.5m3/3.0m3 for residuals.
• Metals: Separate for rebate; even small offcuts add up.
• Pallets: Stack for return/reuse; avoid filling bins with timber.

Pickup cadence

• Start with two front-lift lifts/week for general and cardboard; adjust after two weeks of fullness checks.
• Align pickups with delivery peaks to avoid dock blockages.

Dock discipline

• Lids down; overfilled bins risk double-lift charges.
• Clear forklift paths; mark bin zones on the floor.
• Post a short "streams guide" in the dock with photos of your actual waste.
