Commingled Recycling
Mixed recycling bins that accept bottles, cans, plastic containers, and paper together. No sorting required at your end - the recycling facility handles separation.
Common for:
Offices with kitchen areas, cafes collecting customer containers, any business generating bottles and cans. Adding a commingled bin typically reduces your general waste volume by 20-30%.

What Goes In These Bins
Yes - Put These In
- Plastic bottles and containers (1, 2, 5)
- Glass bottles and jars
- Aluminum and steel cans
- Paper and cardboard
- Newspapers and magazines
No - Keep These Out
- Food waste or liquids
- Soft plastics (bags, wrappers)
- Polystyrene
- Coffee cups
- Textiles, batteries, electronics
Items should be empty and clean. A quick rinse is enough - they don't need to be spotless. Contamination with food waste increases processing costs and can result in the load going to landfill.
Common Questions
Why can't soft plastics go in?
Soft plastics jam the sorting machinery at recycling facilities. They need to go in general waste or to dedicated soft plastic collection points at supermarkets.
Do I need to remove lids?
Leave lids on bottles and jars. Loose lids are too small for the sorting equipment to separate and end up in landfill. Attached lids get recycled with the container.
Does this actually get recycled?
Yes. We use EPA-approved recycling facilities that process materials domestically. We can provide certificates confirming recycling if you need them for sustainability reporting.
